Yves Saint Laurent minus Yves

28. July 2012

I’m sure you guys already heard about Hedi Slimane, new Creative Director of Yves Saint Laurent since March, and his plans to change the Yves Saint Laurent Logo. He did it, as it was just revealed in an interview with VOGUE Paris. The new logo was presented there in a black and white photography, that you can see here:

As you can obviously see, Hedi Slimane removed the “Yves” from the brand’s logo. Which caused a controversy in the industry and among YSL-fans. The buzz is actually unjustified, as the German blog horstson.de, which I can highly recommend in general, just explained in this post: http://horstson.de/viel-wirbel-um-nichts-das-neue-alte-saint-laurent-logo/2012/07/. The new logo is in fact the old one! As horstson.de knows the logo “Saint Laurent” was invented by graphic designer A.M.Cassandre in 1962. Great research! Bravo!
